Wandering Florida

What on earth is wandering Florida?

Wandering Florida is my ongoing project to visit every state park in Florida as an amateur environmental scientist. Begun while still a student at UCF pursuing a degree in Science Communications, this project has gone in and out of my focus over the years. However, the documentation of my travels remains, and my passion for adventure is eternal.

These photos are from my treks throughout Florida as a student and a citizen scientist.

Leu Gardens
Mar 7, 2022

This brief trip to a local hotspot, Harry P. Leu Gardens, was my first attempt at “artistic” photography… And it shows. This was during a special event featuring dragons and fairies throughout the grounds.

Goat Island (St. John’s River)
Jun 26, 2021

Though there are many “goat islands” throughout the world, this little island in Lake Toho/Kissimmee Chain was a unique exploration via riverboat tour with a boatload of friends. Not the most outstanding photography opportunity, but still a lovely trip!

Catfish Creek
Feb 27, 2021

Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park was a day trip for my dog and me. We had a humble campsite in a nearby state forest that taught me to operate without running water. Although the dunes capping still ponds were beautiful, it was a rough day of hiking in full sun on hot sand.

Lake Louisa State Park
Feb 3, 2021

My first visit to Lake Louisa was a brief camping trip, but it tested my mettle! Not only was it my first time camping (mundanely) in around a decade, but it was during a cold snap with all my summer-weight gear.
